Where was your character born and raised?
Effie was born on a farm near Daresido as the last, and unexpected child of her family. Her life with her elderly parents and older (by a decade or more) siblings was, if not ideal, pleasant for the first ten years of her life.

What is your character's family and your character's relationship with such?
Effie's father passed away when she was 10. She doesn't know if her mother, stepfather, or any of her other relatives for that matter are alive or not. Her mother would be 57 and her stepfather would be nearly 65 if they are. She hasn't kept in touch with her 3 siblings (brother & 2 sisters) but they were married and no longer living in her parents home when she left. They are probably still in or near the farming village.

Background:

Effie's father died at the age of fifty in the field on hot summer day when she was ten. Within the year her mother was remarried as a financial necessity to help pay for her sisters' dowry and for someone to work the farm. Her stepfather while cordial in public did not particularly care for Effie, or more likely didn't care to be raising a child and especially didn't care for the idea of having pay for her dowry. In private he was verbally abusive and borderline physically abusive as well. When Effie turned twelve, her stepfather's attitude changed, he was nicer to her but there was an underlying hint of a sexual threat. Effie chose to run away, hoping to join a group of entertainers. Instead she wound up with a group of gypsies for a period of time. She learned some petty thieving skills from them, but grew tired of their lifestyle and being poor. At 14 she joined a thieves' guild in Daresido. That lasted for 3 years when the opportunity she was looking for when she was 12 fell into her lap, or rather she fell into its lap. She quit the thieves guild, changed her name to 'Effie' and became a jester/entertainer. Having achieved a happiness from the sense of finally finding her true calling she made rapid strides in her skills over the next couple of years whereupon she decided to finally try her luck as a solo act.

What is your character's moral code?
Effie will always work for a good cause, and won't perform questionable jobs. On the other hand, Effie is very liberal on the ends and means interpretation and would be willing to 'cross the line', with just cause, on occasion. Effie tries to be good to her word, but won't let it hold her back from doing what needs to be done, particularly if she gave it under duress, was deceived or even if on learning of unusual circumstances, to satisfy her own sense of morality.

What is your character's personality?
Effie enjoys being the center of attention, although she is mature enough not to demand it all the time. She can be funloving and joking and deadly serious at that same time.
