We should also buy any maps which are available, if we can afford them. If we determine that the Manor holds creatures which are beyond our current capabilities, we can then venture into the wilderness, seeking to acquire treasure so that we can better equip ourselves. He's also looking for a contact in the area, which is one of the first thing's he's going to want to check for. He'll also want to take the "pulse" of the town--are the townsfolk afraid? oblivious? submerged in hard work? pious? do they get along well with the local clergy, or dislike them? how heavily taxed are they? what sort of festivals do they have, and how often? Turnings of the moon and druidic festivals (midsummer, Beltane, etc.) will have significance for Korothane, and he may be seeking to establish a stronger druidic presence in the area, so it's best to start laying the groundwork now.

Posts: 614 Jul 25 06 3:59 PM Vampire Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Guy wants to get into the Manor as well, but he is not averse to looking about the local countryside. As far as he is concerned, the manor is only the pivot point to the much larger supply of knowledge the area can provide. While not a practitioner of dark arts or anything, he does have a penchant for what little scraps he can find about the Philosophers of old, a fairly frowned upon item. He wants to gauge the village much like Korothane, but in terms of whether they will be accepting or at least oblivious to his professing and inquiring in those areas. He would have joined up and such as a pseudo-encyclopedia for the group. What he knows he is glad to share, what he doesn't he will try and make up The young half elf stands tall for his kind, with a solid yet slender build and light tan skin with grey undertones outlined by stately clothing worn well by the roads journeys. His face is somewhat unshaven and his hair windblown. Such a haphazard appearance seems to complement his moderately good looks, even considering the pair of scars angled on his left cheek. Marbled-violet eyes reflect a pain that persists through even the brightest of his smiles

Townsfolk appear concerned (many are carefully scanning the outside as they head out at night, traveling in groups at night) and trying to focus on getting things ready for the spring planting. Only a few appear to visit the temple of Thor or the traveller's shrine during the few days you are there. Taxes? There are small taxes here and there that you overhear in day to day conversation. All in all, it appears the day to day taxes are a little more painful than other small towns you've experience, but not anything like the big City States. Other taxes are not spoken about - but they are usually around. Festivals? There is no speaking of festivals to be overhead at Neptune's Trident. The town folk tend to shy away from outsiders. The tone and volume of conversation changes when new people enter the inn you are in. Halaf Fec's Trade Monopoly is listed as having a rudimentary map of the outside of the manor. This will soon be discovered (or is disclosed when a town militia is first asked about the manor), hence why I sped things up and put the information there. The cost is 25gp. *Quote:* Brother Muscle wants to find out the location of the old monestary he needs to locate/search You have seen both a run down structure that could have been a monastary or temple on a hill to the SE of the town and a newer structure that could be the same on a nearer hill to the East [Oracle: minor edit from previous info here]. A quick question posed to the militia indicates the newer construct is a new temple on the hill, but the guard is not aware of who or why it is there (he hasn't found a need to trouble with it) and there is the ruins of a old temple which the Rumps tore down by the lords of this area many years ago. The run down structure is an old monastary - but you are warned to stay clear of there - years back several villagers were torn apart by the air itself when they went to investigate why the brothers of the temple were no longer tending their fields or visiting the village. By the time he arrives in the morning, the storm has moved on, leaving a persistent, chill drizzle that quickly soaks the body and numbs the spirit of anyone caught out in it for any length of time. He arrives by the northwestern road, striding into town with Soot (currently unarmored) at his side, seemingly oblivious to both the rain and the curious/fearful/hostile stares of the few townsfolk outside at that time of day. On arriving at the center commons, he looks about, then heads for Neptune's Trident. There he orders some food and asks the proprietor (as well as any guests) of the wheabouts of a man named Athrane: a human of mixed pedigree, in his mid-30s, maybe 5-1/2 feet tall, possibly traveling with a wolf for a companion. In the afternoon, he seeks lodging by the simple expedient of finding an abandoned home on the outskirts of town and appropriating it for his own use. (Ideal locations would be the building in hex 0504 or 0313, if either is vacant; he would prefer something near the groves of trees if possible.) Over the next couple of days, he circulates through the other watering holes in town: The Bark and Byte, the White Horse Sleigh, and even the Church of Thor, asking the whereabouts of the man he seeks.

After arriving in town, Muscle heads to the arranged meeting spot and exhanges pleasentries and prayers with Brother Powerbar. After this, he seeks out what passes for the town's archives(Or someplace where he can learn of the surrounding area's history and locations of note) And begins his quest to find the old monestary and the hidden stash.

The general answer, when you are finally able to get a few to answer (most are avoiding your queries) is the Athrane person must be the wandering forest walker. He comes and goes in the town and likely lives out in one of the copse of trees that make up the lightly forested area that way (South). He hasn't been seen in the village in over two weeks, so maybe he's out keeping an eye out in the hills. The Temple of Thor seems a bit more open and polite than the villagers do, however the priestess indicates the man and his companion wolf haven't been seen in a number of days and last was heard he was dealing with some sort of dangerous predator that had come in to close. A militia woman you finally stop looks at you curiously and says, "Ain't no such thing like that in this part - closest is probably in Tegel Manor if ya got the guts mister". On the matter of an old Monestary - there's the old Path Seekers ruins on the hill to the SSE - but you really don't want to go there unless you can fight the air itself. Out of game is probably better for the session - trying to avoid taking up too much online session time with stuff that can be done by email or board posting if it doesn't break the story. Sir Runic Rump is not taking visitors at the moment, or so you overhear a few peasants talking about as one attempts to console the other over some recently lost livestock. *Quote:* Rupert will also ask the bartender at Neptune's whether anyone else is in town to explore the manor. All four of the PC's find out about each other and can start from there in the session or can have a limited partnership/party established as the majority feel best. Posts: 614 Jul 26 06 7:33 PM Vampire Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	After entering the town with the best intentions to absorb knowledge, Guy finds himself soaking up the local color (or rather liquor) at the various establishments about town. Gathering information one (or two, or even three) sips at a time, he abstains from philosophizing if he readily sees any of the aforementioned uneasiness towards newfangled ideas/people. Otherwise his inquiries encompass local folklore about the manor, the surrounding lands, and oddly enough, about what crops are the most popular and/or most bountiful in the region and why the townsfolk think that is. I would wager that he may inadvertently bump into one or all the other soon-to-be party members at various points during his bar hopping, but doesn't really consider a group until they all meet up at good ole Neptunes. If the townsfolk are easygoing in general, he may even toying with the idea of a semi-long term residence if one is available (base of operations perhaps?) He is fairly at ease, but the fact that his old friends in the Sophist of Light where able to find him is a mixed blessing. A kind parcel from his old tutor is one thing, but the fact that a group not known for tracking people down can find him means others may have an easier time of it... The ruined structure is more problematic, especialy since there seems to be a monster inhabiting it. Muscle decides to head to the Neptune for a hearty high-protein meal while he ponders the situation.
