Making good on Guido's suggestion, I think we should be a little more "vocal" on the boards and dedicate some time and thought to what we should do in the upcoming battle.
Since we have resolved to rest the night, this could all come up as party discussion.
Ahve got me some goodies to be sure. Ah dinna know how we best be usin this stuff, but ye may have some ideas lad *Rentlock motions to Karl as he speaks*"
*OOC - Rentlock shares with the party his stockpile of alchemical and other sundry combat goodies from their trek from Drellin's to Witchcross. He has in his haversack 4 tanglefoot bags, 4 vials of acid, 5 alchemist fires, 2 thunderstones, 3 smokesticks, 2 sunrods, 10 pints of oil, 4 bags of marbles, 3 bags of caltrops, and 10 tindertwigs. Tool wise he has a pair of metal tongs, a portable ram, a crowbar and a spade/shovel. He makes sure to run this list past Karl especially, to see if any kind of sabotage can be rigged for the dragon if they are able to clear out guards with some time to spare before the dragon returns.
"Ah canna try ta keep it from scoopin me up bettar than the lot of ye. Ye all may be needen ta keep under overhangs and the like too."
*OOC - He also shares that he can go toe to toe with the dragon, needing some magical assistance if possible. Additionally, support folks may want to find some form of cover or alcove to shoot and cast from. The harder it is for the dragon to scoop you up, the better. Rent can ward off a good bit of grapple attempt with his feat setup, but everyone else is a bit susceptible.
"Iffn we can pin cushion tha beast before it gets too close, we may bit be havin too much trouble on tha ground. Ahd say save tha rangar fer aftarwards...but be warry of his bowstring."
*OOC - Obviously, concentrate arrow fire on the dragon, reserving actions if possible. I am not entirely sure grouping all our actions together is better than spreading our turns out...some of you more overtly tactical folks may want to chime in on that. As for the goblin bowman, Selene's windwall may be a boon again in this situation, blocking breath weapon and arrow alike. If it was enough to notice his bow, I am sure he is either feated up well and/or equipped with something nasty. However, I completely leave the final spell choice to her.
"Iffn we get that twangin gobo on tha ground 'fore tha beast be dead, leave 'im ta me fer sure...an keep tha sky full o' pain"
*OOC - If the goblin is grounded for any reason, Rentlock can try to engage and/or grapple him, eliminating his bow from the mix. If he would like, Rent can offer the use of his longbow for this encounter to Bruken (+4 STR composite, so I think Bruken is the only one who could use it). It is his call if he wants to stay off shooting and casting or get toe to toe as well. If the dragon is in full flight mode, Rent may need to stick with bow combat as well.
Some general ideas/notes:
We need to enchant weapons I think as best we can. I know Karl has an oil of magic weapon and Cale mentioned being able to make a quiver of arrows fire arrows. These two things are huge. Big question is, can a bow enchanted by one of the gems take use of arrows that are themselves enchanted? That is a good 2d6 total elemental damage if it is possible.
Haste and Trells battery of buffs and songs is another boon. Especially for the bows, the first 5-6 rounds will be vital.
Rockchoppit, if he or we all can readily identify this fact, will definitely want to keep his resist energy aura up for the breath attacks. Perhaps after that just go to DR aura for whatever we can soak up.
If we can somehow get a tanglefoot bag on the dragon in flight, would that halt it and plummet it to the ground? I know there is an initial reflex check to see if you are bound, but even the reduced movement and other penalties may help us. If our owl friend is willing to swoop in, drop and get out, that may produce some nice (though unlikely) falling damage. Additionally, one bag to lower reflex saves from DEX, and then the second to try and bind again.
