Do a 10th level PC, since the group is 10th to 11th level right now. Personally, I'd recommend you do a cleric, as the group is still missing one. Wizard would also be a decent choice, though. No, I am not using the Unearthed Arcana variants. To the others: Hope you don't mind having a cleric join your group. If he gets obnoxious, you can always feed him to the dragons! Likely he'll start out as a prisoner somewhere in the complex...which means after the current battle, you might consider dealing with a certain devil next. One downside: with an additional PC, you'll no longer be able to transport the entire group back to Brindol with a teleport spell. You might start contemplating the consequences of this. ONE CAVEAT I did approve dystmesis' return, but if any of my existing players object, feel free to let me know, either here or privately. It's unfair of me to allow his return if you guys object! Trellara is pretty easy to play for the first couple of rounds of a fight -- Sing/Inspirational boost on round 1, Haste on round 2 for a big fight. Try to conserve spells for the final fight. Alter Fortune and Ruin Delver's fortune are both immediate action spells that can be used to keep her from being killed. Ken

Does Trell have anything that can debuff the sorcerer or strike it's weak areas? Miko needs an opening so she can unleash a full attack. Since Donav is so far away, he might be better off doing a summoning. Karl is unfortunately limited to plinking with his crossbow. Miko should rage if she can, since she is so close to the sorcerer and also very low on hp, she really doesn't have anything to lose. Perhaps unleash a leap attack? So she will either heal herself next round, or put up Protection from Energy (Cold). After I do that I can either cast Mindless Rage on the sorcerer again, or dispel magic on it. Both probably have a 50% chance of success. If I get it with mindless rage it is completely screwed -- it can only do melee attacks. If I dispel it, it can still ice blast us, or just put up mirror image again. So we just gain a round. Her other option is to use her sonic blast on it. But I dont know how many HP it has, and each sonic blast is a 4th level spell, whicjh I was hoping to save for the final fight. Karl ought to get across the pit somehow, so he can do more than plink with his crossbow for 3 damage. The best tactic for meleeing a sorcerer who can repeatedly cast mirror image up is to close your eyes and attack it blind, accepting the 50 percent miss chance. Ken

I took a gamble and lost. I was trying to manage resources and left my self exposed. I was hoping that Trellara could conserve spells like Fly for the BBG fight or the two dragons we by-passed. I didn't want her to have to burn a high level spell like Heal this early. I thought once cornered we could easily neutralize the Sorcerer. Copper's Vital Touch at 60 HP maximum is largely wasted if below half hit points. I had hoped to use vigor to maximize healing and preserve Trellara's Heal spell. Bad choice as it turns out. I think I've come up with a plan that will work very well, in fact. It will have the side effect of possibly killing the sorcerer, too. I am not sure I wish to tell our DM... can we trust him not to metagame? ;-) Damien, if it is convenient could you post the map of where we were at the end of the round? Ken

Keep in mind the enemy likely has Spellcraft too. As I mentioned to Donav last night, one good option for him would be to burn a 5th level casting and channel it into a mass cure minor wounds. That should heal all of you by 1d8+9 hp, which would certainly get Copper back on his feet. He could then heal himself 60, which should keep him alive a while longer. Don't be so worried about conserving resources for a big boss fight that you die in the current one! I think at this point you need to focus on survival and maybe another retreat to town, rather than clearing out the lair in one go. Who knows how much deeper it extends? FYI for those who were wondering about the intelligence check last night...it was for you guys to remember that the blue dragon at the entrance outside flew out of the mouth of one of the big Tiamat stone dragon heads looming over the fane. It is likely that if you can get back there, it may well go somewhere...possibly only to the dragon's lair, but possibly elsewhere. It is an area you saw but have not yet explored. If you manage to survive this fight, there's a nice little white dragon hoard to loot as well in the cave where the white sorcerer is. By my reading of the teleport spell bodies are objects, and don't count against the limit on targets. If we leave Karl, he might get turned into some horrible undead thing that we have to fight. There will certainly be critters with scent, blindsense, etc in a temple to Tiamat. Ken
