Bob, how did the City State and the Wilderlands evolve? Did it expand from dungeon adventures you did (maybe Thunderhold?), or did you read some Leiber stories and think: "Yes, and I can do all this in D&D!"?
How did the first versions look like (if there were proto-versions)? Were all the details present, or did you add them later? What about the dungeons under the city-state? There are multiple stairs leading down from Level 5 - were the lower ones ever explored and mapped? What about the other set? (Maps J1-4, the lowest one with a railway tunnel) I presume they are originally for near Thunderhold, as the statue on level 1 could be a dwarf if you squint hard enough. Where is this one located and what manner of creatures live inside?
Another topic: what did you do with the city/world after they were published? Did you run adventures in them in the 80s and 90s? If yes, in what direction did they change and evolve? And will we see the results of said evolution in the new set?
