Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	In the original JG relese, the location was not tied to a specific place in the Wilderlands IIRC, so you can place it anywhere that you like. I am not sure in the new revision will have a more specific location, but I think it would be unlikely as the guiding prnciple for the DM in the Wilderlands is "make it your own". I am planning on using the Caverns as part of a Tula campaign I am beginning in the fall, so I will likely place them somewhere in the southern reaches of the Wilderlands, maybe near the borders of the Demon Kingdoms, but befor eI decided on the Tula campaign, I was leaning towars putting them somewhere near the Valley of the Ancients. Posts: 134 Aug 25 04 10:57 AM Ghast Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	In my world, I situated it in the swamp North of Zothay (Barbarian Altanis). Zothay was originally peopled by worshippers of Athena which ties in nicely to Thracian culture that was part of the caverns. As well, since Orichalians were strong in that area, a link can be formed between them and the reptile race that originally built the caverns. Finally, the 'tribesmen' that live on the surface around the dungeon (and those who got perverted to Thanatos worshippers) could be Altanian tribesmen who live wild in the area. Since the Skandiks of Zothay are a seagoing people, it is plausible that they would have little to no reason to fight barbarians to explore the swamp on their doorstep and stumble across the Caverns. *** There's also a nice way to link the Zothay/Thracia storylines and perhaps even justify the party hearing about it. The Zothay underground movement could have knowledge of the swamps (as they would hide from the Skandiks there when they had to) and they could be using the existence of these once fabulous ruins as a rallying point to their potential, inspiring them to fight the good fight. They might even know of the legend of Agamemnos/Argos II and they could provide word to adventurers that they seek a party to defeat the gnolls and allow them to take control of the caverns as a real base/city. Once the Caverns are done, maybe the players will help with the war on the Skandiks. ** Coincidentally, I sited Dark Tower in a mountain pass, 30 miles to the west of this location. The route to Onhir from the City State was changed to what it is now when the old route that ran the other side of the mountains was closed after the disaster at Mitra's Fist.

Posts: 7 Oct 17 05 10:37 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I'm running a Forgotten Realms campaign and I've placed the Caverns on an Island down by the Jungles of Chult. The methode of entering the adventure is a series of long dis-used portals that the party discovers. One of which leads to an underwater portal in the river by the city. The players will either have to make a swim for the return portal (which only opens at specific times of the day, and its hard to watch for it). Or find another portal back (luckily there are several abandoned areas in the adventure that I can stick a functioning portal in...or perhaps they'll have to find parts of a portal to re-activate it...

Posts: 282 Apr 9 08 12:33 AM Ghast Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I'm placing Thracia on the jungle coast ca 12 hexes north of Lenap, one of the suggested locations. I'd previously considered placing on the edge of the Screaming Hyena jungle near Chim, but I think a coastal location makes good sense.

Posts: 524 Apr 9 08 6:39 AM Ghast Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Although not an "officially suggested location" for the Caverns of Thracia, I placed them on the lower end of the Pazidan Peninsula, on the Isle of the Blest map (map 11). Specifically, I located the Caverns of Thracia in the Crimson Serpent Jungle to the west of Diancecht (hex 3405). This jungle is located between the Castellan Mountains to the north and the Dragon Lord Hills to the south. http://black-blade-publishing.com
