Over at EN World there was a recent thread regarding the god of gargoyles. In one of the replies I noticed the mention of Ogremoch, the Prince of Elemental Evil (Earth). I mentioned Arghrasmak, God of Gargoyles from City State of the Invincible Overlord in a post of my own.
It occurred to me that both Arghrasmak and Ogremoch are quite similar in both name and concept. According to Wikipedia Ogremoch was created by Lewis Pulsipher for the 1981 Fiend Folio. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if Arghrasmak was mentioned by name in the original/early Judges Guild material? It seems too much of a coincidence that these two have so much in common and appeared at (roughly) the same time.
Also, while I'm on the subject, does anyone know Arghrasmak's alignment? In the d20 City State of the Invincible Overlord he's mentioned on pages 114-115, but his alignment is never given. His high priest is listed as Lawful Evil, but gargoyles are traditionally Chaotic Evil. For purposes of my campaign I made Arghrasmak Neutral Evil (oddly enough, not realizing Ogremoch is also Neutral Evil, as well), but I'm curious if there's an "official" answer.
Thanks in advance!
