The broadsword shows up at Tech Level 3 in the Wilderlands, and yet there are no longer any stats for it.
Because the longsword is at Tech Level 5, it should be somewhat superior.
But the broadsword is still a popular weapon, so it, too, should have something going for it. Also, nostalgia for 1st Edition leads me to want to give the broadsword 2d4 damage. But that makes it slightly better than the longsword. I think I've finally come up with a solution:
15 gp 2d4 Dmg(M) x2 Crit 5 lb. Piercing or Slashing
That is a weapon that does slightly better average damage than the longsword, but in the long run is outclassed by the longsword due to its poor crit multiplier. However, it potentially makes up for its slightly worse statistics by having two damage types -- like a longsword it can penetrate DR/slashing, but it has the added advantage of working well underwater.
