As I mentioned previously, the wealth section was shorter and you mentioned that it was cleaned up a bit. What about the NPC's section? I notice that it has Cylyria (but no picture, like the book). Does this mean that this is a REPLACEMENT for what is in the book, or some other aspect of things that I'm not understanding? Are the other sections also possible replacements (except Fan works), or something else as well? On another thread, someone listed (and then others modified the list) different shops, their names and so forth. I found that very helpful, since I couldn't find a butcher any other way. And I'm still wondering how far away the City of Ashes would/ should be. The description states that it is the cities largest cemetary, but I don't see any others on the map. Being that it's certainly overgrown and such, I'd think that those with money would not have there after life in such a place where Orcus had his filthy claws. Did I just miss others or is this another part of the "imcomplete" aspect to leave room for us to fill-in the blanks? At the end of the Orcus' Claw description on page 114 they talk about the March of Bones and how the mindless undead eventually reached Bard's Gate, so I would say a few miles, like 5 miles, would be a good distance. Especially since when they did used the cemetary they wouldn't have wanted the processions from the town to the cemetary and back take more than a day. Plus you do have the workers who work here and live in Bard's Gate. 5 miles sounds good to me.

Thus it is an "enhancement" of the original but not necessarily a replacement of it. Case p.s. I personally place the Claws of Orcus/City of Ashes about a mile from BG. At 20-30 ft. per round 200-300 ft per minute 5280 ft to a mile meaning about an 18 minute stroll to get to town, 18 minutes to get back plus the miles of side streets and avenues to walk in the interum. Thus it still takes a while to get to town, wander the streets and then crawl back to your grave. The city has grown since the time of its creation. Wealthy folk would typically have a family mausoleum on the grounds of their estate (be it in or out of the city) in which to bury their dead. Thus the city of ashes has become something of a Potters Field, where the poor are buried out of sight and out of mind. Likewise most folks do not know of or disbelieve in the real threat that the Cult of Orcus poses to BG. If a large, evil secular sect lived in your community the likely (and typically historical) approach is to ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist. Aside from the rare March of Bones (A very cool creation of esteemed fantasy author/creator Anthony Pryor) and stories told by crazy adventurers that do nothing more than cause trouble, (AKA: fuel the economy and bring calamities and destruction to town) who has a daily contact with the cultists of Orcus? The Milkmaid? The Tanner? The washer-woman? The soothsayer that gives you advice on your lovelife? Surely not! These people are our friends! It's those wacky adventurers and the corruption in the government that causes all of the problems for us kindly citizens! People prefer to think they are safe and out of danger than to stick their nose into danger and uncover the truth! That's why they are commoners and PC's are heroes! My above example explains why the worship of Thyr, Muir and other lawful/good gods are in wane. BG has had a great share of prosperity over the years. With the Grey Deacon's dropping from the picture with a whimper rather than a bang, most of the common folks assume everything is A/OK. They know where there are dangerous parts of town and would avoid them unless they are the danger seeking type or part of the true criminal underworld. They have Imiril and Cyliria to support as their hero if they are good and "oldschool" in their conservatism. They have Duloth to look to if they are among those who think they are "getting screwed by the man." They can always complain about the influences of "the Duke of Waymarch" for their troubles.However, since BG is a rather wealthy and successful city, they probably don't complain about much other than adventurer's causing trouble. For those pesky heroes that like to start bar fights and cause trouble, they have some pretty strict "dont screw with us" laws and an able bodied constabulary. You could look at it this way.. BG is a town potentially in need of a butt whipping! All the parts are there (we hope) to set the city up for any number of calamities, adventure paths and possibilities. What happens to it depends on how your campaign plays out. Case

With the NPC file, I finally was able to look up several folks that I spent hella time searching for in the appendix and ended up missing. Buckets of thanks from me and my Table Top group. Thus it still takes a while to get to town, wander the streets and then crawl back to your grave." - Case I would think that most people move 40-60 ft per round when traveling, since unless they're doing something, the standard action would normally be traded for an extra movement... unless they want to walk at a liesurely rate... and you did say "stroll".

I want to have one that I can print out in normal paper size and slip into the cover of my Bard's Gate Campaign Binder. I'm willing to pay like five or so bucks to make it available to the Bard's Gate fanbase.

Posts: 17 Aug 8 06 12:51 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi all - The PDF of BG from Drive-Thru has the city map as a whole, as well as some of the sections (much different than the ones that Case will pass along). The sections kinda suck, as they don't overlap and a few minor alleyways and such are missing. I printed out a couple extra copies of the city from the PDF as well as saved the pages as .jpg's to print out (my printer doesn't like pictures in PDF's). Now I need PS or something to blow the jpg's up and then print so the players can have a further in-depth view of the city. I've added a slaughterhouse and an orphanage to my BG/Dyvers (using Dungeons' Funeral Passage module, which uses Saltmarsh). Anybody else added locations and descriptions they'd care to share? Case, that .jpg version of BG, can I post that here as an attachment? Esp. if I've posted my 2 locations, and others with their locaitons/descriptions. Issak

Posts: 17 Aug 8 06 4:40 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi all - For my Dyvers - Codex of the Broken Sword campaign, I've laminated my map (more below). I've then nailed it to the wall. With dry erase markers, I applied Tent City (it's not on the map, and I moved it to the eastern side). Because I'm using BG as Dyvers, I've made a lake at the top, and am stating that there isn't a "river" per se that flows in the center of the town, but a dwarven-made river that flows around the back side for shipyards. I also marked on the eastern side, "1 mile to City of Ashes," since my first main adventure takes place there. Wish I didn't, but I did put N/E/S/W in the bottom right corner before I laminated it. If I hadn't it woulda allowed me to manuever the map a bit. Which is why after thinking about it (after being ticked) that I'm glad they didn't post the name on the map. I take all my maps/posters (I have 4 of those cool D&D posters that you get at Toys-R-Us that I've not even seen in my retail shop catalogs [I'm officially a retail shop, but do special orders atm]) and have them laminated at the local college, as it's about $15 for a big poster (think BG was about $ . I do it with all my posters, including the WotC mini's posters. Not that they are up on the wall, but someday I'll have a shop that has walls! Be Well. Posts: 17 Oct 9 06 12:45 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hi all - Using BG as Dyvers might be slightly different for the god's aspects. Being that the god of Bards is big in Bards Gate, and Zilchus is big in Dyvers, I pretty much switched that aspect around. I haven't played too much, and need to do a bit more investigation. Any notes you work up, I'd like to see as well. Being that my PDF version is more complete (I took out the original pages and replaced them with the modified ones that are WE's) I keep that one around, but I wrote (in pencil) the GH gods for the BG gods. From what I recall off the top of my head, I made Pelor pretty big. The BG has a warrior style god that works in conjunction with another god. This warrior god I made Meyhanie and Pelor the other god. Again, I'll have to look at my book at home and post my thoughts. Some I haven't even bothered to modify, since they didn't fit, or seem to be important to my needs. However, one of my PC's is a cleric of Heironeous, and since I didn't do much for Heironeous at first, I've had him reporting to the Church of Pelor. He's since been turned into a Mummy, and I'd first played it as an "evil patron" but after discussions on WotC's GH board, am going to have the Church of Zilchus be his new patron. Thus he's a lvl 2 cleric of Heironeous and a lvl 1 mummy with the Church of Zilchus behind his reviving. But it will be an underground aspect of the Church, esp. since I'm going to have to start using them a bit more, as they are supposed to be the dominant church in the region. Good luck with your Knurl / BG conversion. Pass along anything you find that works well with GH. The one thing that I've found is that BG sits on both sides of the shore of a river, whereas Dyvers isn't on a river, so I've had to make it a tad in from the coast (.5 mile) and the south end of the city (river) end as part of a ship building region (so the ship building is in the back of the city, in part of the river-esque area, and the rest of the river that would lead off the map is just more farm land. I reviewed some of the BG gods last night and marked possible GH deities, but then I had to return to re-painting my Collosal Red Dragon (nice mini, nasty paint job). Besides it's hard to get away with opening the BG book here at the office to review and post the gods. I do hope that anybody that has ideas as to which listed gods would be good for Greyhawk replacements will post.

I'm lucky in that Knurl already lies on a river. The "Harp" River I might add. Most temples had very easy mappings, sorry Case - extremely nice work but I have no desire to add new gods to Greyhawk, Bowbe will just have to be Kord (or Eryhnul in certain cases). Ohgma will be replaced by Lydia. The only ones I didn't bother to map and just "ditched" were the Bird Goddess (I couldn't find a reason for Phaulkon, replaced with St Cuthbert, a popular favorite), The Temple of the Spider (I gave Delleb a shrine in its place, a more "civilized" god) and the Temple of Bast (Replaced with another "Catty" godess, Wee Jas - giving the arcanists someplace to worship, also a favorite of the LN crowd).
