I am just starting the harrasment of the Pc's .. they found ye'old belt of Giant Strength... and well, things happened. The most anoying so far was the thieft of the partys 'bag of holding' about 3 nights after the curse started. I have much time to build this up as they are only 4th lvl now. but ooh the fun it will be tormenting them for such a long time. In other parts of this board, someone mentioned exchangeing 2 of the devils for completely different 'home made' 3.5 versions. is there anything wrong with me simply useing the 3.5 versions of the Named devils? in general is there any changes I should make in Vindication! to fit perfectly in 3.5 other than just (and I use etools) print out the 3.5 versions of the bugbears/devils/etc and such?

Sadly, life currently precludes me working on something as a freebie when I'm just trying to make all my monthly payments. What I can offer now is advice as you mix Vindi into your campaign. If you have specific questions, lemme know and I'll try to help as I can. I'd think, since the module was delayed quite a bit for v3.5 retooling, you could use the devils as stated. Devils now are even tougher than they were before. Take note of the tactic hints I give throughtout the module and you should have a great time inflicting barely survivable pain. ...the Darkmage Elton, if you don't like it, tough. -- DT 'cuz we Horsemen of the Apocolynk gotta stick together...

Posts: 3 Jul 19 05 1:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Thanks for the prompt reply! ok, well lets see.... the Butchers are all ok, CR's and such did not change from 3.0 to 3.5. Imps also are fine. 1) the effective CR of the Named Devils (ie: Cornugen) all are about 4-7 cr's higher: should I just use the 3.5 MM version and stats ... and be a little 'nicer' to the PC's? or should I pick .. lessor devils that have CR's closer to what is written in the module? 2) "the ace in the hole" 's 3.5 CR (ogre-magi/ftr9) is a LOT higher than 3.0 version. just convert him to 3.5 and 'go easy' with him to keep him from single handedly slaughtering the party... or should I drop him (about 6) levels of fighter to get him back down to a CR that is closer to whats listed. (note: slicer/dicer lose a lot of effectiveness with out those fighter feats). or I could just change him totally to a human(?) sor5/Ftr9 or somethign like that to get the same Ftr feats and magic use, but without the huge ELC penelty. Another option would be to LEAVE the new higher CR's of the devils/Ace exactly 3.5 lists them, and instead get the party a level or two (or three?) higher before allowing them IN to the Keep. and bumping up the lessor encouters (butcher guards) a little so that the encouter levels are more even with the Devil encouters (ie: add more butchers, or add a level or two of fighter to them). Off the top of head those are the more glareing ones. anything else was of small consiquence and I can easily modify on the fly.

If your group isn't all that well-versed in D&D tactics and dirty tricks, then I'd recommend toning down the outer-planar beings. I would NOT recommend changing things so the tactics sections for each being are significantly changed, especially turning Ace human from Ogre-Maji. Jerjicus is supposed to be the second toughest thing the party faces besides Sess himself. Either of those two peops should be able to wipe a party out. I've also written a static encounter and specific battle tactics to take advantage of Ace's ogre-maji-ness. Don't waste 'em. The idea is that the players should be able to out-think the DM and the module creator. I mean really, ?why should anyone have a chance to take Archmage Sess and his cronies out? You gotta be tougher and/or smarter than he is. However, for the summoned battle-help, sure, notch them down if your players' skill level warrants, but keep any special tactics available, if possible. They're supposed to be challenging. But if they're TOO challenging, then, sure, take Erica's fine rewrites. ...the Darkmage Yes, I wish him dead, but... rocket fire from long range...
