These include Incursion Knowing Nate, and his liking for web enhancements for his products, I suspect that if he gets time he will do a 4E conversion of the stat blocks once 4E is available

I'm jazzed to hear that you guys are still interested, I just hope that sales don't bottom out beyond these walls. I will do a conversion ASAP, but I'm taking my master's comprehensive exams in the spring, so it won't be on the cusp of 4e.

Posts: 2234 Sep 24 07 4:50 PM Necromantic Writer Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Based on what some WotC folks told me at the con, the electronic toolkits for 4e will make character generation a snap, especially as characters are being simplified. I won't bother to change equipment, which is generally what takes the longest, and Jack still has all the Excel generators he used to create the 3.5 stats. I'll probably have to re-stat traps and a few encounters, and maybe provide substitute creatures until the critter books catch up, but the core of the adventure is investigative and won't require much. What we really need to do is cook up a dual-statted low-level intro to Eamonvale to help sweeten the pot for potential buyers.

There is a lot of people posting that have said they won't buy anymore 3.5e with 4e coming out. Because it has been said they won't be doing a conversion(by they I mean WotC). If so then I sure as hell WONT be buying it or anything else from NG. After having to wait so long for this product which should be 3.5 and then being told it isn't anymore is horsesh*t!

I'd guess that at a minimum, that means a 3.5 NPC appendix, if not a whole 3.5 download. I've always intended to support whichever edition didn't make it print, and I still do. MacPhail

So I'll likely have moved on past it by then... oh well. I'm still curious on how you guys are so willing to jump onto 4E when Erik Mona has said that Wizards has not only, NOT made any of the rules available yet nor have they said whether there will be OGL. ??

My last conversations with WotC were at GenCon, when everyone was even more tight-lipped than now. So I can't really speak to the thought process behind this. We've pulled the product assuming that there will be a 4.0 OGL, and hoping that we'll get a copy early enough for a summer release. If there's no OGL, or we get it too late, or if space hamsters eat Seattle, then there will be a new decision made based on that information. As for being willing to 'move on,' this is a business. Nobody's putting their kids through college with it, but it is a business nonetheless. The inability to move on is what doomed TSR. I think it is a sad and dangerous characteristic of the RPG industry, and I think it is why so many good publishers have stagnated and died, or are dying, like Palladium. I'm not saying that I approve of the WotC marketing plan-- I'm a Games Workshop player far too familiar with that paradigm-- but I'm not going to choose to ignore it, especially at the cost of sales of my product. I put a full year into writing and revising this book and have held its hand through four years of testing, editing, production snafus, market quirks, and more, all without a single nickel in my pocket. I'm not going to stand on principle if it means releasing a product to a shrinking market, not while there is potentially an expanding market waiting on the other side of some revisions. MacPhail

Heck, I can remember Bowbe mentioning that sales on Vampires & Liches tanked because it was released as 3.0 when 3.5 was just about to be released. This is the way most of the market is going. By not doing so, basically you're choosing not to follow the market and that doesn't make good business sense. I think the offering of the 3.5E stats and doing it in 4E is a good compromise. That's just my two coppers . . .

RPGs are a small market to begin with and "1st Ed feel" is a small niche in that already small market. Catering specifically to a "3.x Rules, 1st Ed Feel" when the rest of the market has moved to 4E is pretty much slow suicide. Thanks to Castles and Crusades being my game system I don't care which edition its printed in, I can use either one. If the claims are true, 4E may even be a little bit easier to use. I'm just sorry the art is going to be switched out.

Use a different, more reliable rules system and just adapt D&D material to it. Like Treebore, I plan on getting TEI regardless of the edition because I don't play d20 anyways.
