I'm a big fan of Arcana Evolved and I'm currently DMing a Full gear AE campaign. My players just got 12th level. I've read on another board a suggestion about the Bonegarden. After seeing it at my FLGS, I bought it. On first read, it's very interesting. I like the concept a lot. I have some ideas on how to adapt the Bonegarden to my campaign. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My campaign takes place in a city (somewhat Ptolus-like). It's a city-based campaign and I wish for it to remain it this way. The Bonegarden will become the city's Necropolis. The graveyard is surrounded by a 60ft stone wall. The gates are permanently watched by the Order of Dawn (a group of undead-hunter).
I'm planning on having 2 lists of encounters (day versus night). Encounters during the day will be rolled 2 hours apart (contrary to night where it will be rolled every hour or so). I will add AE-specific undead such as the Spirit of Sorrow.
The doors to the Necropolis are only opened once a week, on sundays. It's the day where funerals take place. The grieving parties are escorted by the Order of Dawn, to make sure nobody is eaten or worst. The undead usually stay quiet on sundays. They have learned to fear the Order and their anti-undead rituals. Once the gate closes, the party begins.
[WARNING: FIRST DRAFT]
A dear friend to the players died during a riot caused by them. They will attend his funeral. After the ceremony, it will be time for the lecture of the last will and testament. In it, he will mention the Vault of the Pilgrims (his former adventuring party, which the players' parents were part of). The Vault is where there most treasured possessions are. To access the vault, they will need something buried with him. If the players want to be the first on the item, they better hurry and get into the Necropolis rather quickly. Getting secretly into the graveyard will be easy. Exiting may require waiting for next sunday. 7 days in the Bonegarden!
What do you think? Do you have suggestions?
