Posts: 687 Jan 5 03 8:51 AM Vampire Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None The interior (and cover, for that matter) art for this module is great... and seems to depict one character party. Was that a playtest or other party, or just an "artist rendering"? I like to use pregenerated PCs as NPC parties to harass my players and was sorry that such wasn't included. That's not a complaint... this is an awesome module and I want my players to hurry up to get to it! Thanks for a cool piece of work... BB

Posts: 1111 Jan 5 03 9:59 AM Necromantic Writer Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It was an artist's conception based on notes given by the author (me). The character classes/races for my notes were based on one of the parties that I ran through the module but no more than that. As far as playtest parties and pregen PCs, sorry didn't do that. Several very different groups playtested the module for me. I find that playtests provide more useful info if a different DM runs it based on material I have written. I ran the adventure several times, but I had an idea of what was going on, if someone else runs it and runs into problems they can tell you about them. Sometimes what you write doesn't convey the idea you think it does. Inclusion of pre-gen PCs simply takes up space that could be used for more rooms, dungeons, monsters, etc. You won't see that happen in Necro products. Whoops, I think the Maze series is an exception to that rule. It is pretty easy to generate PC stats now with several programs out there allowing the DM to create their own backgrounds for pre-gen PCs so I think we decided against pre-gens for some of the earlier products like Demons and Devils. If you had two more pages I would have been glad to take the return of the mage over NPC stats. I am placing Hampton Hill outside Greyhawk City and will probably try to bring the RM up to Greyhawk while my players are there as a set-up for HoRM in the future... I like to use the NPCs from 1E modules for various things in my campaign and since they come from another person's brain they are a nice shake-up from my usual output. Many in 1E were just a page or two; I realize that in 3E with all the statarrhea they would take too much room.... Anyway, the mage with the ponytails, the tough fighter, and the two elves will probably end up as a rival (or maybe evildoers...) once I get around to it. Thanks for the input... BB

In all the art notes to the artists I suggest (or have the author suggest) a group of PCs to be used in the action shots throughout. Clark

Posts: 687 Jan 6 03 3:24 PM Vampire Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Another reason to love them is that the president of the company and the author of the module reply to my inane comments on a web board I am making up some NPC groups for random encounter purposes so I might just include these guys, possibly with the names and stats from "In Search of the Unknown" which I have wanted to use for a long time. I didn't see a "Trebblos, Boy Magician" in the drawings unfortunately... Yet another reason to love them is that the stuff is excellent, just far better than anything I have seen for D&D in a very very long time. I read through HotRM and can't wait to run everything I have, but my group is dispersed across the country so we only game occasionally. Thanks again... BB

Posts: 12 Dec 3 03 9:55 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Barrataria I designed the characters based on the writer's ideas, they usually say something like (male half elf rogue with longbow and longsword etc). I have lots of fun designing them. Lovingly is how I would put it. The whimsical deign of the sorceress was inspired by the character design in the video game Kessen 2. Barrataria, is that like Barataria Blvd. on the West Bank of New Orleans? -BL
