Fusion jazz that incorporates Japanese influences and instruments. I just picked this up a couple days ago. It's a group I've been very interested in, and I'm happy to say that I'm enjoying their music just as much as I thought I would. Enough that I want to check out more of Hiroshima's stuff. Is that a new Dinosaur Jr. album, Mr. Frau Blucher? I have a couple of their old ones (Green Mind and Where Ya Been?) and quite enjoy them.

These guys put out so many great albums, but then in the late 90's seemed to just completely lose their inspiration. At one time it seemed like they could come up with a strong melody without problem, and now it seems to be a real struggle for them. At least I have a bunch of good music thanks to their older catalog.

Picked this up while I did a mini-cd buying spree at a Barnes & Noble's a couple of weeks ago. It was so cool being in a store that has a good selection of music again. Now that Best Buy has hacked their selection down to almost nothing I don't have any good places to buy music locally anymore. Yeah, you can get everything on the internet, but you just can't browse in a webstore, IMO, like you can in a real store. I got this cd, plus the Hiroshima "Obon" (really, really good), and also Fleet Foxes "Sun Giant" (which I dig). None of the three were really planned purchases when I walked into their music department (though I'd been planning to check out Hiroshima for some time now). Oh, for those who haven't heard of him, Django's a jazz guitarist who melded gypsy guitar with classic jazz. This album is from '49, and features his usual partner, violinist Stephane Grappelli. A pianist, bassist, and drummer rounds out the quintet. Classic music.

Getting into the Halloween music, and this is probably my top choice. Their album "Evol" is also quite dark and spooky sounding overall and is a good runner up. Maybe I'll listen to Godsmack or Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" next.
