Neko Case, Deep Red Bells off of I-Tunes Original. I like her. She's kind of old country with modern style if that makes any sense.

Just returned home from a short trip to the coast. I took the following four discs along in the car:
Paula Cole - This Fire Neil Young - Chrome Dreams II Fairport Convention - Liege & Lief Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head |

Got all of those except Chrome Dreams II.
How is that one? I'm generally a fan of Neil but his latest one about electric cars and other stuff struck me as odd. Living With War and his other recent stuff however is top notch. Where does this one fall? e-bay Sales Updated 3/24/2009: , Miniatures, Ultramodern Firearms, The Hunt d20 setting, Legends of Excalibur d20 setting, Legends of the Samurai d20 setting, Midnight books, 4e Points of Light, and more! |

Sonic Youth "The Eternal." I quite like this one.
I'd assume that Sir Clarence likes that Neil Young cd, since he chose to take it with him on a road trip. I'll have to pick it up, since I also like Neil Young quite a bit. Now that you've given it an endorsement, Joe, I'll have to pick up Living With War as well. Since he put it out so quickly, I'd assumed it was going to be mediocre. Do you have Greendale? That's the last Neil Young cd that I picked up, and I really like it. |

Well, actually I took it along because I didn't remember it that well anymore and wanted to listen to it again.
Now, after hearing it, I must say that it's quite mediocre. There are three excellent songs on it that are Neil Young at his best, but the rest is pretty much middle-of-the road. For those three songs alone it might be worth buying for a Neil Young enthusiast, otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. Now it's Magnum and Chase Of The Dragon. Pure 80s heavy rock. |

Well, take the recommendation with a grain of salt. I'm in the 'anti-bush' camp so when Neil's singing "Let's Impeach the
President..." yeah, I'm with that. There was a lot of music Georgie boy inspired ranging from John Fogerty to Ministry.

Sonic Youth "The Eternal." It's still in my cd carousel mainly due to laziness, but I don't mind because it is really, really good. Their
best album in ages. It has a new all time favorite SY song on it "Anti O rgasm".
I've had pretty good "luck" lately in that the new albums by Prince, Metallica, and now Sonic Youth have all been really strong. Joe, have you stopped buying new music? I've been hoping to get your opinions on some of the new big releases but you haven't posted anything. Nothing on the new Bruce Springsteen, U2, Dave Matthews, etc. |

Trees - The Garden Of Jane Delawney
Nice british folk rock from the seventies. Not as good as Pentangle, Fairport Convention or Steeleye Span, but still... |

Def Leppard "Pyromania."
I got the 2 cd newly remastered version (for 14.99 at Best Buy). It finally sounds loud and rocking, which neither the earlier version nor the old deluxe gold cd version did. |

Sammy Hagar's new crew, Chickenfoot. Has a totally 80's vibe thanks to Satch and the drummer from ...dangit. Red Hot Chili Peppers!

today I downloaded some new tunes for the first time in a long time
Dead Weather, Horehound. yet another Jack White band, this time with Alison Mosshart of the Kills. could be good ... The Warlocks, The Mirror Explodes. I'm still waiting for something by them as good as 'Phoenix'. This isn't it - yet - but is still a tasty bit of psych guitar. |
