But they also mentioned they did not want to used pre-rolled characters, they want to start from level one. Since I want them to be fully immersed in the NG atmos, here are my first to adventures : Wizard's Amulet : naturellement! Crucible of Freya : a no brainer. So what do you think I should put them through until they reach 7th, the poor innocent fools!

I haven't eliminated it. Espcecially since it introduces the two lost gods which will also lead to the dead god in Tsar. Maybe I can reduce it. Do you know of/own Morrik Mansion? What about that? Would it fit.

Posts: 34 Jun 14 12 7:39 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I ran the top 5 levels of Abysthor as well as the Crucible and WA on the slow progression pathfinder xp and they still were way over lvl 7 before they got to the Desolation. I think only the deaths from earthblood kept the party average below 9. As it is now, they are still within the 9-10 level only having explored the Ashen waste section. I was worried that there wouldn't be enough xp but the dirth of wandering monsters have kept the xp going as well strong. If I find they are leveling too slow, I'll switch to the medium progression later. Killer DM lucky #13 Necromancer in the Great White North

Is there some encounter or info (aside from the two shrines of course) that could be very useful for the players?

Abysthor is great and I agree the tomb of Alaric is a good place to redirect adventurers. We played that one once a week for several years, real time. I also liked Hall of the Rainbow Mage as a location of interest for magic users or just a place to find esoteric knowledge (maybe Tsar related). Vault of Larin Karr is open ended. VoLK provides a regional setting and a couple towns. My group never got into the main adventure but they really liked the Npc's.

I never use experience points so it was working out fine level wise but horrible party composition and first time Pathfinder (Long time BECMI,1st and 2nd players) players it kind of stalled out. That and it was my first time running a game for 3.5/Pathfinder and we used a 25 point buy so I amped up the encounters and it turned into a big ole meat grinder. To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffering.

Posts: 576 Jun 23 12 6:30 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Lost City of Barakus is another good one that starts at 1st level, has town, wilderness and dungeon encounters in a nice sandbox style. It has no direct links to Slumbering Tsar in the way that the Wizard's Apprentice, Crucible of Freya and Tomb of Abysthor do, however. So you would have to add in rumors, maps or other tantilizing hints to lure your players to the Desolation.
