Posts: 2963 Aug 30 11 9:22 AM Wilderlands Pathfinder Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None I've been thinking about starting a campaign with Tsar, but the gods from Bard's Gate all presume 3.5 rules. I want to create a 7th level cleric to be able to jump right in. Is there any chance of Frog God updating the Bard Gate deities for Pathfinder? There are a couple of domains in Bard's Gate that have not been "Pathfinderized" and there is at least one Pathfinder core domain (Glory) which none of the deities in Bard's Gate have. Even if they won't be updated officially, if there was a way to put in a sidebar or something that listed the typical gods for PCs that may be helpful. (Also, if there's no plan to update, I may take a crack at throwing something together this weekend for review here.)

Posts: 31 Sep 1 11 4:45 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The two major gods in ST are Thyr and Muir. Muir is the goddess of Virtue and Paladins and could easily be substituted with Iomedae. Her domains are Glory, Good, Law, Sun and War. Thyr is the god of Law and Justice but also of rulers. He is Lawful Good and doesn't quite have an exact match in Pathfinder, but you could perhaps use the Lawful Neutral god Abadar instead as he is the god of Cities, Law and Wealth and most rulers worship him. There are currently no plans for that sort of thing, so if you want to take a crack have at it. :-)

Posts: 2963 Sep 6 11 7:13 AM Wilderlands Pathfinder Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I took a crack at it, but there are so many gods and many of them have the same portfolios (especially when the Splinters of Faith deities are included) that I was unable to develop a satisfactory pantheon. I'll tackle it again in the coming days, but my goal is to have a list - similar to that in the Pathfinder Core Rulbook - of Necromancer/Frog God Games deities that PCs may venerate.

This is by no means my final thoughts on the topic, still thinking about it. I'm currently pondering equivalents for Freya and Cuthbert. Also, I'm considering Thy=Aroden and Muir=Iomedae, with the caveat that in the Lyre Valley Region ("Necroworld" in my Golarion), the worship of Iomedae has declined (as it has for Muir), because the Army of Light was lost. The people believe she has turned away from them, so she has been relegated to a rather minor position in this region. I would be interested in your thoughts. Set = Achaekek Hecate = Asmodeus Hel = Urgathoa Arden = Sarenrae Muir = Iomedae Thyr = Aroden Freya = Gozreh Nerull = Norgober Tsathogga = Gogunta Best, E

The problem is, I want a similar variety to Paizo's deities, so I'm going to have to pick and choose which Necro gods to include and which to ignore. I thought about doing a conversion as you are suggesting, but I don't think the Necro gods (especially Thyr and Muir) translate well with Paizo's deities. (If you do run ST with the deities you are suggesting, please do share the experience!)

I'm in a good place in that I don't expect to start running Tsar for at least 6 months, and I have a lot of prep work to do beforehand. Once I do run it, though, I will have compiled the list and will share.

I thought that Erastil made a better substitute for Freya than Gozreh did, with the latter's sea tie-in. I have emphasized that in this region there is an underlying dissapointment with Iomedae that accounts for her worship to fall to next to nothing. It is seen that, rightly or wrongly, she focused on the "west" (whispering tyrant), instead of sending greater aid to the Army of Light in their time of need. Best, E

Posts: 3 Sep 24 12 4:18 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I was very grateful to get this list, but mid-play, just as the party was entering the Chapel of the Dying Light, I realized Norgorber just wasn't a good fit for Nerull/Nergal. Norgorber has four different aspects, and none of them is simply "I'm Death". That's more Pharasma's gig, and the darker side of Pharasma is Zyphus, god of Accidental death, Graveyards, and Tragedy and that fit in beautifully with the inhabitants of the chapel.

Well I think this lies more with the portrayal of Muir in the NG world, IMO. Muir is a hardline LG deity who probably leans into LG(N) and as stated 'Quickly turns her back on those who don't live up to her ideals." It does fit into the ultra-focused nature of avatars and gods where they are 'dominated' (as it were) by their natures. Muir's inability to take into account 'To err is human' leads to weakening of the faith when the inevitable slip-ups happen and depending on wether or not the NG deities use the faith=power trope, that can lead to the faith withering in the area.

For domains that are missing we are adding from coverting 3.0 Norse and Greek Deities to keep the flavor.

Posts: 2 Dec 29 12 1:35 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	A lot of the Necromancer gods can easily be swapped out for relatively analogous Pathfinder deities since most of them don't have a huge spotlight shone on them and are not terribly important to the overall plot. However Thyr and Muir are two deities that are crucial to the story and in the forefront of a lot of player interactions (with a prestige class even being dedicated to one of them!). Because of complications with the Pathfinder lore I found replacing these two to be a bit of a challenge. While Iomedae represents a perfect replacement in nearly every way for Muir, her recent status as a deity in the Golarion lore makes her problematic for standing in as Muir's analog with regards to the overarching meta plot and the Three Sibling's confrontation with Orcus before his fall. This same issue similarly prevents Aroden being used as a stand in for Thyr, who would otherwise also be an excellent choice, as Aroden is not only long dead at the time of the present age on Golarion but his tenure as a god is also not nearly long enough for him to have been present before Orcus' defeat by the Three Siblings. Ultimately what I plan to do in my campaign is to use Iomedae as a stand in for Muir (replacing Aroden whom Gerrant would have worshiped when he was alive), but with Muir's place in the Three Siblings filled by Sarenrae. Thyr's place can easily be taken by Abadar.
