There are two notable exceptions.
Paizo is alive and quite well, and is the main producer of 3.x material.
Goodman Games is publishing 4E material, and most significantly will be doing their own 4E magazine.
And to a lesser extent, Wolfgang Baur has his most excellent Kobold Quarterly magazine that seems to be slowly growing in popularity. As I understand it, some copies are distributed in gaming stores.
But, man, where is everyone else?? Am I overlooking any other significant PRINT 3rd party DnD publishers? I don't think so.
And where in the heck is the excitement over Goodman's releases? I don't visit Enworld much anymore (now just once or twice a week), but I just don't see any real buzz there over Goodman's releases. Have they done many 4E modules since those first couple? Have they released that monster book yet? If so, where's the buzz over that??
And for that matter, aside from Paizo's own boards, I don't see much talk about their stuff either.
I've done a few posts about some more recent 3.x releases and it felt like I was just talking to myself. Likewise, though there are a fair number of 4E players and GMs here, posts about 3rd party 4E material really don't seem to generate much interest beyond the same few people.
Has the whole 3.x/4E schism just dulled everyone's excitement over 3rd party publishers and in DnD in general?
