All he has to do is look for the rapidly and incessantly expanding post count!

Deepcut wrote: I think we should continue to fluff, but now each in our own unique way. Since my title is "bastard", I'm officially starting the utterly baseless "D&D 5e is in the works" rumor: "My non-existent sources say the 4e / Pathfinder split and the crash of the DDI initiative with the layoffs in WOTC's staff have caused WOTC to reconsider their position and start working on "D&D 5e: A Return to Not Sucking". 5e will incorporate the best innovations from ALL previous editions of the game to create a new edition that will please most if not all of D&D's fractured fan base. A skilled team of WOTC staffers will be working on the best quality edition ever, with a return to the philosophy of making the BEST game and profit proceeding from that (rather than making the shoddiest but most profitable game they can). With the release of 5e WOTC will no longer be the D&D book of the month club. They will instead release quality product when there's a quality product TO release. They will also cease slavering over the WOW money, realize D&D is a pencil and paper RPG, and begin treating it as such once more. To that end they will gloriously re-launch Dungeon and Dragon magazines in new, beautiful, mass-market print versions, partnering with Publisher's Clearing House to reach a much wider range of subscribers and elevate the magazines' status to at least that of "Curling Monthly" and "Goldfish Fancy". This, along with the release of new D&D-based toy lines through Hasbro and a new D&D cartoon, will expose D&D to a MUCH wider range of consumers who will be drawn in by the new 'less is more' simple, yet elegant ruleset 5e has to offer."

Yep, you saw me and I got caught in mtbdm's trap regarding 5e. Ha-Ha. Grumble.
My campaign ended with two PC deaths and one of the surviving players fleeing from the party and abanding them at Rappan Athuk. One of the primary surviving players got married and was never heard from again after we attended his wedding. I'm now playing in a 4e game, doing the Eladrin Wizard. Almost a waste of time to play a Wizard in 4e. You get powers that try to make them equivalent to a fighter in attacks and effects but then take away your HPs and AC so you can't survive like one. That was the edge Wizards had to make up for their lack of HP and AC, firepower and utility. Take away those too and I've noticed a definite back seat postion to every other class. The other campaign I'm playing in is Warhammer RPG. I'm really enjoying that one. Playing a Wizard there as well since my Dwarven Champion got cut down by a Chaos Knight with a chain sword. For those who know the game, I've got a Witch who joined the grey order to avoid persecution and has hypocritically joined forces with Witch Hunters (because I'm a good witch and YOU are a bad witch). |
