Crap - Chara out for 4 to 6 weeks. The pro is that it will give Chara some rest so he may be fresher at post season time. It also may help build some additional depth at the blue line. The con (and it's a pretty big con) is that he's...

The Pens-Flyers is on CNBC so I'll be watching. The Flyers look dreadful this year and coming off a game last night vs. the Hawks, they looked flat and punch less. They do not play defense either so I think the Pens should roll over...

Flyers tonight! We have had a casual pace to the season, with four games in 13 days, but we have three the next four days, starting with the Flyers in the Burgh. I like what I have seen so far this season, but how they play tonight will...

Hey Mr. Frau, I'm certainly interested as to how the Pens do. There was a lot of change there and sometimes that can bring in a 'breath of fresh air'. Hornqvist is a solid player and plying with Crosby & Kunitz will definitely help...

Wow, guys! I have been late getting here but I have been pretty fired up so far this season. Our PK is crappy right now, and our d-men are still figuring out their positioning and passing (one of the the biggest changes from Bylsma'a...

B's once again look anemic on offense. I agree with you dav that Fraser I think needs to stay on the left wing - he just disappears when he's on his off wing. That said, pretty much the whole offense has disappeared. At least I...

Bruins can't score now, though hopefully things will improve if Krejci is able to play this afternoon. Looks like Seth Griffith from Providence may play on the right wing with Krejci and Lucic. With Cunningham sent down and Campbell not...

Re: Guy Lafleur présenté par Viggo Mortensen  (reply)
The one cut I don't understand is Cunningham. I thought he was relatively solid. As for Boychuk, I'm sad to see him go but I think that move gets the most in return where if they kept him, he walks at the end of the year. I still...

Caron cut, Spooner to Providence (may be temporary though), so 2 right for me so far. And one wrong, Boychuk traded for picks. I need a drink......

Re: Guy Lafleur présenté par Viggo Mortensen  (reply)
I'd be surprised if they traded with Detroit as that's in Division. I agree that neither will bring big returns and it's more of a salary dump. Kelly has a no movement clause so that would make it tougher to trade him but that's $3M...

Another round of cuts today, as Khokhlachev (have finally memorized the spelling), Spooner, Florek, and Jeremy Smith were sent to Providence, with only JS needing to clear waivers to be Subban's backup. I think Fraser will stick, because...

Re: Guy Lafleur présenté par Viggo Mortensen  (reply)
Well both Krug & Smith signed for $1.4M and back in the fold, it should be interesting what Chiarelli does at the defense position.  Also, it's looking like Campbell won't be available for the start of the season.  If that's the...

Re: Guy Lafleur présenté par Viggo Mortensen  (reply)
The current roster after cutdown #2 is below. At most, they could keep 2 extra F and 2 extra D, but I'd expect only 1F and 2D. White Jerseys: Milan Lucic - David Krejci - Loui Eriksson Gold: Brad Marchand - Patrice Bergeron - Simon...

Hey Dav, Both Fraser and Griffith have looked very good. I'd be sad if they moved Boychuck but I think that's the move they're going to have to do. Bartkowski & McQuaid won't bring much right now nor is it huge cap savings. I...

OK, I need to say that it's pretty ridiculous that the Bruins @ the Caps preseason game is being blacked out in New England on NHL Network. Were they expecting us to make a road trip down to DC to attend the game? Matt Fraser (i.e....

Krejci gets signed to a 7-year deal. Wish the AAV was a little lower, but it's not like they overpaid either. He would have gotten more from some team needing a center (Leafs anyone?).

Hey Dav,I agree with you on the salary cap as it will continue to creep up.  I'd give that money to Toews but I'm not so sure about Kane (due to his life style).  I like the invite to Gagne - I think it is low risk and high reward.  Plus...

Re: Guy Lafleur présenté par Viggo Mortensen  (reply)
Bruins have invited noted B's-killer Simon Gagne to training camp on a tryout....could be a low cost solution on the wing, though he's not the right shot that we need. Hawks couldn't come to terms with BC forward Kevin Hayes, who is now...

Re: Guy Lafleur présenté par Viggo Mortensen  (reply)
It may not be as bad, as I've heard that next season the big TV deal in Canada (from TSN to Rogers) will add those revenues to the cap. So if the cap goes up another $5mil per team, and team like Chicago would still have $54mil towards...

Re: Guy Lafleur présenté par Viggo Mortensen  (reply)
Agreed Mr. Frau. The salary cap is to protect the owners/GMs from themselves. I'm not sure what the Black Hawks really could do there. I think if I had to choose, I'd have kept Toews and let Kane go. $10.5 for both will impact that...
