Ah, I see your point. Yes, I really do need to either define all the ingredients, or let generic valuable stuff suffice for what I don't, I suppose.

No hurry, we can play it by ear. Unless these pirates are jam-packed (hmmmm, jam) with magical components. Not that I don't think pirate swag has certain
possibilities for magical item creation. Stuffed parrot of power anyone?

Looking over the cooling corpse of the newly departed Gorum, Ossic shakes his head in disgust at the bloodthirsty actions of the vile pirates and their
leaders. (He of course makes no connection with his own curses and actions in the fight.) But Ossic also notes that Gorum's +1 breastplate would fit him
with only moderate strap adjustments. Then again, the hulking man in black look doesn't really fit Ossic's image. So put Ossic's bid in for
Gorum's masterwork composite bow, STR 14. It'll be usable come lvl 7.
By the by, what is a +1 freezing shortsword? DMG-wise there's a frost, icy burst or even frost brand. Inquiring minds want to know

Here's some thoughts on who might be best suited for which items...
gauntlets of ogre power - I'd recommend Ion, since he does not have Weapon Finesse or any other strength enhancements. +1 frost short sword - I'd recommend Roongshri, since he does have Weapon Finesse, and it is a finessable weapon. +1 breastplate - looks like Ossic already has one, and I don't see anyone else using it, so probably "to be sold" ring of protection +1 - Ossic or Roongshri; I do not believe either of them have such a ring as yet cloak of resistance +1 - Ossic or Blodwyn, probably the latter, since he has the weaker saves I'd guess overall ring of swimming - anyone but Ossic, who already has one. Roong might be an interesting choice, actually; he has a swim speed, but this might help with herculean swimming efforts belt of ogre power - Judan is definitely interested in this; however, Blodwyn could also benefit (since he doesn't have Weapon Finesse, and wears magical gloves); one possibility--would Blodwyn be interested in giving his gloves of dexterity to Judan, and taking the belt (or the gauntlets above) for himself? hat of disguise - Judan seems most likely, since he has ranks in disguise and a good Bluff score, etc. to back it up brooch of shielding - can go to just about anyone except Ossic, since I think it occupies the same body slot as his periapt wand of invisibility - Jenkin seems the best choice; it is on his spell list, and I don't think it's on anyone else's in the group +1 greataxe - probably "to be sold" unless Ion or Blodwyn wants it composite longbow - I'm happy with Ossic claiming it We should also consider the other NPCs, particularly Amella as captain, and maybe also Skald.

Ossic is planning on casting shield of faith regularly now that it gives a +3 deflection bonus to AC. By using a pearl of power, this becomes a cheap and easy
AC buff for him or anyone else w/o a deflection bonus. Ossic also has divine fortune to boost his saves so he's happy for others to get the ring of
protection and cloak of resistance.
I think there was a collection of flawed gems in the pirate loot. Ossic would like some of the rubies to be had in that collection for future castings of continual flame. Once Ossic becomes a radiant servant of Pelor next level, light spells he casts have double the illumination. So his continual flames will shine clearly light out to 40ft and shadowy out to 80. Ossic will casts continual flame at cost for the party for their personal use. Pelor's all about the light... |

Unfortunately, to become a Radiant Servant of Pelor you have to successfully complete my White Temple adventure. Gee, sure is convenient that on this world,
it's located on that island just ahead. Of course, leadjunkie and I would have to excuse ourselves from the quest...
(in-joke for those from my Red Hand game) Shield of faith is decent, but with a duration of only 1 minute/level, it's one you'll likely cast only if you are anticipating battle in the immediate future. Sometimes fighting overtakes us without warning, so having a deflecton bonus continually active as a backup (even at only +1) is handy to have. Any opinions from Ion or Blodwyn's players?

Give up +2 DEX for +2 STR? that's a tough call. The item cost is the same for both Gloves of Dex and Belt of Ogre Stench, (4000 gp), but I think the AC
bonus is a bit more valuable to me at the moment. Too many close calls.
Blodwyn is interested in the cloak of resistance, however. (It'll be another couple of levels until his Will save gets less pathetic.) And somewhat interested in the ring of swimming, although he already has an elixir of the same.
And then my master flew to the moon in a rocket of flamin' cheese! I like cheese!

Would Ion be interested in the gauntlets of ogre power and the brooch of shielding? Those are two of the remaining magic items with no claims on them yet, and
both should work fine for him.

The above includes the tentative claims made by various people, though I still have not heard from Ion/Ilsasorne to confirm his wishes. Also, items have not
yet been set aside for the NPCs; we should at least consider upgrading their equipment with looted weapons. Ken should probably speak for Amella's desires;
maybe she'd like a magic rapier and buckler?

I need to go home and look at the various NPCs character sheets. They would definitely expect some share of the loot from the pirate fight, and equipment
upgrades would do nicely. Assuming Amella doesn't already have a magic rapier, that would definitely be her choice. Skald also deserves something
significant, as he made a major contribution to the fight.

Amella would like the +1 rapier. Skald would like the +1 buckler, or the masterwork chain shirt, or both.
the light shields are made of wood. Blodwyn, note that the mage armor spell doesnt stack with armor. So it isnt very useful to you. Ken |

I've no problem with Amella taking the rapier. As for Skald, both items were ones Roong was planning to "buy" and give to Alda. It can be his
decision which is more important.
What kind of armor does Skald wear now? I don't think the mage armor potions will be useful to any of the PCs. However, Jenkin might be able to use them. He's almost at the point where his evil summons will be double duration, at which point spending a round to give one a +4 AC bonus might be worthwhile; further, eventually he'll get lesser planar binding/lesser planar ally, whereupon he can conjure an outsider or elemental for a much longer duration that could benefit more from such a potion.
