Character Information
Description: Ameane is a strikingly beautiful woman, with heavy, sultry eyes, full red lips, a small rounded nose, dark eyes that flash with emotion, smooth tan skin, and black hair that flows past her shoulders in a straight black sweep. When in town, she often wears one of several well designed and often suggestive outfits.
Background: Ameane was born of Ranein Pentaxis and Tham, an escaped I'thlan slave.
Ranein hailed from the city of Tuer Sool, working there as a bard, and eventually set out to see the world. When in the infamous city of Modros, she came upon an alluring I'thlan slave, a man whose supple skin, firm muscles, and large, soulful eyes filled her with a burning thirst. Unfortunately, he was already the property of a wealthy businesswoman who was of similar opinion. Ranein did not let this stop her; she bribed or charmed her way into a position to be alone with the slave, then spirited him away from Modros.
They journeyed for some months. Tham's pliability soon wore off with the end of his drug supply; nonetheless he had been born and bred in the Modros slave pits, and found making decisions of his own volition nearly impossible. He thus put all his faith, trust, and loyalty into Ranein's hands.
Eventually they settled in Ursaphous, a city with much stricter regulations regarding slavery, and with the magical might to prevent slave-takers from Modros to try to recapture Tham. There they settled, and she worked as a minstrel at various inns and establishments, to modest success.
However, Tham's eager pliance began to get on Ranien's nerves. Being a child of her own destiny, she could not truly grasp Tham's utter need to cling to her for support, and she began to stifle under his constant attentions. She began to have other liaisons, a path that ultimately led her to the Convent of the Casteines. This "convent" followed the teachings of Casteine della Vemalos, a worshipper of Matuun, God of Pleasure and Diplomacy. This organization specializes in hosting negotiations between conflicting parties, as well as serving the needs of people in other ways (e.g., as a high-cost brothel; think of the order as something like a guild of geishas, and you're not far off the mark). Ranien and Tham quickly became members of the Convent, and it was there that Ameane was born.
Ameane's upbringing was a series of lessons in decorum, duty, and the giving and receiving of pleasure. As a child she helped in the daily maintenance of the Convent, but on hitting puberty she officially began her lessons, then work, as one of the Courtesans of Casteine. These duties included more than physical pleasure--they also involved how to entertain, soothe frayed nerves with a few calming whispered words, and how to carouse with the best of them. By the time she had reached the age of 18, Ameane was much asked for. Still, she always suffered from a lack of empathy for her clients, perhaps as a result of her upbringing, that kept her from true greatness in her field. In addition, her entire childhood had been spent in its service, and much like her mother, she yearned to break free and see the world on her own terms. Thus, after turning 18, Ameane left the Convent with the blessings of her mother, and has spent her time since then learning the ways of the world around her, away from a sheltered home.
Ameane now works as a minstrel much like her mother once did. Her current pattern is to move to a new area, find a nice, strong alpha male that she can beguile and bend to her will, then use him to protect her from boors and lechers. Her beauty and skill have thus far kept her from having to pay for her own room and board, and have kept her well supplied in funds for her own personal needs.
Ameane usually travels by coach, or wagon when such is not available, keeping her belongings tidily arranged in two large valises. Once she reaches a new destination (a new part of town, or perhaps a smaller community outside of Ursaphous proper) she will settle in for a couple weeks before wanderlust takes hold of her again.
