Posts: 2201 (04/13/09 14:34:33) Wilderlands Pathfinder Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None For those of you staying 3.5 or going to Pathfinder, what would you like Necromancer Games to do, product-wise? We've heard that Slumbering Tsar may be a Pathfinder adventure and Eamonvale is also a possibility. Tome of Horrors, Pathfinder Edition has been mentioned too. But beyond those three - and whether those end up being Pathfinder or not - what do we want? Are there any other "old-school" places, like City of Brass, that would be great under the direction of the Demon Lords?

After that I haven't really given it a lot of thought as i would rather see new stuff really, though I do wish Necro would sell PDF's of their older stuff that is no longer in print threw Paizo that would be nice. Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. Benjamin Franklin For MSG - I am sure you can teach a monkey to scratch his butt, just tell him to watch you. After a couple of hours he should be a master at it.

If the sales of Pathfinder products doesn't equal those of 4e, then I can't imagine some of the things I'd like most, such as boxed sets and massive settings ala City of Brass and Wilderlands, hitting the channel. The opposite is also true. I know paizo has been doing stand-alone adventures, but the PF brand seems to be very heavily identified with its Adventure Paths, I think Necro could possibly fill the stand-alone adventure niche for PF with a bit more panache. I have come to really enjoy the adventure paths....but let me tell you, there is just nothing better than Wilderlands-style hex-crawl, dungeon cause its there old-school goodness.

A City of Dis given a City of Brass treatment? Just...just wow. Wipes away a single beautiful tear. "New stuff!" is my answer. While Tome of Horrors, pathfinder edition, would be nice, I'm really stoked for more adventure material. I'd likely pick up the ToH, but not for a while (probably preferentially buying lots of stuff from Paizo instead). But new stuff, particularly adventures (Slumbering Tsar, and maybe that Demonheart adventure I don't know anything about--but Necro always does demons right and the art seems right up my alley theme-wise) would be great, and get my money. I'm likely to want ToH after a longer while, when I want to start running older (1st and 2nd) edition modules in Pathfinder (It is what I used ToH 1 for....ToH 2 and 3 were cool new monsters, so I used those like other monster books, but they were up high on the list). So, to put it more succinctly: new modules/adventures at first, and then ToH a bit later.

My favorite Necro adventures have been the site-based ones that let players explore at their own pace, typified in Crucible of Freya, Vault of Larin Karr, and Lost City of Barakus. It's something that is lacking in the Pathfinder line, which is far more plot-driven. What I'd like to see would be a single campaign area that is developed through a series of modules that cover 1st to 20th level. Each module would cover encounters and areas appropriate to that character level, with the more remote areas likely being higher level. For example, if the campaign were set in a large valley, perhaps the mountains to the north have a giant stronghold, an old wizard's tower, an underdark section, etc., that are all roughly appropriate for 9th-12th level characters. It might also be possible that higher-level products would continue to develop areas in lower-level adventures (e.g., deeper levels of a dungeon that cannot be accessed right away). One possibility that would incorporate existing Necro material would be to use Crucible of Freya and the long-out of print 3.0 Tomb of Abysthor as a core (and possibly Demons and Devils and even Sword of Air), and expand out from there. Alternately, one could come up with all new material...if existing Necro material is used, I'd prefer old 3.0 stuff be converted, rather than newer 3.5 material which can easily be run in Pathfinder as is. Doing something like this would be ambitious. You'd need a strong development team, and a pretty good outline of just what you want placed where charted out through all the levels. You could then have a single author tackle each section, or have a writing team work on each one collectively, with each person contributing a few encounters, dungeons, etc. to the finished whole of each module. I think Necromancer's strengths lie with site-based adventures, and that they should stick with them. I like the idea of something like Vault of Larin Karr but on a larger scale. A site based 'sandbox' game where players can find out about what monster groups are where, and take on challenges according to their own wishes, not according to a plot. I think we've seen enough redos of old adventures. I can always convert Rappan Athuk Reloaded or Tomb of Absynthor to Pathfinder myself; I'd rather NG put out new stuff at this point, since they have limited resources.

From his temple/keep, to necropolises (necropoli?), to his chief servants, to a few schemes he is working on, and so on. The politics, the artifacts, the very horror that is Orcus in all its glory. I could just see it: you finish Rappan Athuk, and then where do you go? spoiler alert You hunt down the nasty bugger whose avatar (IT WAS JUST HIS AVATAR? OH CRAP) you faced to finish him once and for all so he wont come after you when you're old and weak. If that does well, there's always a Grazzt set waiting to happen afterwards. I want a good werewolf adventure. Not some wererat rogue crap, a good, scary lycanthrope bad-ass addy. Ive been kicking the same werewolf adventure around my group for 4 or 5 differnt sessions, and they still cant keep th emain bad guy down. Its scary, its good, and its something thats lacking in recent adventures. Anybody remember What Evil Lurks? That adventure was scary. Creeped me out. We need some of that kind of badness. And lets make it for Pathfinder. WOTC can ** me. That had a chance to make things right, and chose** not too. Pathfinder may not be perfect, but dammit, those guys care about the game, not the financial bottom line. Just my saucy opinion. ----------------------------------------------------------- ...and in the end the mermaid was rescued (long story)...
