The mere size of the bracelet suggests that a rather large or muscular man had worn it previously. "Might be worth something...if we ever find a place to sell it! Next time you want to throw some magic around Elkan, I'll let you check this out." He shakes his head as if disagreeing with something but continues forward, staff at the ready. {Using Spot +6 and Listen +4 he will pay attention to his surroundings, noting the way back and any sources of danger.}

Posts: 2335 Aug 11 08 12:20 AM Son of Northern Darkness Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The rough-hewn stone tunnel winds slowly to the South and begins to slope downward. Though the heat of the day increases above, the further you descend into the earth, a cool subterranean breeze greets you with it's gentle caress. The bones underfoot serve as a constant reminder of Death's ever-present spectre which seems to taunt and follow your every move as of late. The flickering torchlight illuminates numerous side passages that reach further into the unknown - a few of which are marked with a simple 'X' carved into the living rock, but Ilona continues along the main channel, looking back now and then to see that you follow. The Soothsayer's pace would be otherwise difficult to match, but the promise of much-needed answers spurns your group onward. After a good hour of silent tunnel-marching deep into the serpentine darkness, Ilona stops at what appears to be a major intersection, the tunnel splitting off into two separate channels. The left passage, which seems to head off in a Northerly direction, has been intentionally cleared of it's bone-carpet and is marked with a single torch anchored to the wall. The other passageway, continuing Eastward, has been almost completely cut off by a major cave-in. The massive rocks and stones covering the Eastern passage are partially covered with a pungent-smelling slime, greyish-green in colour, which seems to be oozing from an opening near the ceiling. "It's been that way since I arrived here ... the collapse, that is. I never attempted to breach the cave-in, I doubt I could shift enough rocks to reach the other side. I'm not sure what that fungus is up there ... I've not seen it until recently." Pointing to the North tunnel she continues, "We continue this way awhile further." The rough walls soon change into a narrow arched hallway, obviously man-made, which ends at a small set of stairs that leads even further into the depths. Squeezing thru the opening at the bottom of the stairs, Ilona becons you to follow. "Almost there ... " At the end of another short, torch-lined hallway stands an set of imposing iron doors. "Beyond is my sanctuary, my home ... and safety. I thank you for your trust in me. You are welcome to rest there and I'll share what food and water I can spare. If you wish, we can speak either here in the hall or inside ... but I will caution you, friends - once inside the sanctuary, the doors will close, and will remain so until tomorrow's rituals. You will not be able to leave before the rituals are completed, no matter how much you desire it. Of this I have no control ... Glancing at Kransh he mutters, "By the Hammer! It feels good to be underground again!" He knows the humans and the half-orc will not fully understand the draw to the deep. Examining the walls as he walks Belten is glad his initial observations were correct....there is good stone here! At the major intersection of the Eastern and Northern tunnels Belten stops and looks over the cave in and the ooze. {OoC: Knowledge Dungeoneering +6...will edit this portion depending on the results.} "Beyond is my sanctuary, my home ... and safety. Belten asks as he examines the entrance, as he doesn't like self locking doors that do not have a mechanical means to bypass. {OoC: Search +10 (+12 stone), looking for locks/traps/mechanics of the door, Spot +13, Knowledge Dungeoneering +6 to try and determine the origin of the construction, ie dwarf, human, etc.}
