        <![CDATA[ The Big Boss&#39; post about nominating your favorite game store got me thinking about this....and I thought it would interesting to hear others thoughts on
this - there are edition comments, but I don&#39;t want an edition war.  Really looking for opinions on whether or not this store is doing something silly.

It was about an hour or so from my native tampa, but even as late as 2002 it was the only place to see stuff like Runequest and Judges Guild on the shelves.
And if you went there on a Saturday back then, you might get lucky and catch an opening in Dave Arneson&#39;s game! I miss that place, nothing like it in my

			<description><![CDATA[ Yeah the Saint Charles store is the best of the chain. It is the biggest and has the most events at it. But it is way to far for me to drive to, considering I
live in south Saint Louis City.

As for the online being cheaper or not, it depends if you buy direct from the maker of the products like say Paizo. Then you pretty much break even when you
order online as opposed to going to the store, but more of your money goes to support said company as they get all the profit minus... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I visit the one in St. Charles that Mistress mentions here.  I go in about once a week or so and check out the minis.  I walk in and they hand me the key to
the case; they all know my name..  They know where I am headed.  This chain has superior service and the best people working there.  I have visited the store
since 1980.  It was on main street in the cobble-stone street area then moved down by the ole car company.  Now they are in an aging part of town in an old

			<description><![CDATA[ I agree LFGS are slowly dieing. The local chain which has pretty much dominated the local market now. They are adapting, the sell a wide range of things. From
card games, collectible cards, board games, RPG&#39;s, anime and other niche video&#39;s, and of course comics. The other things they started doing years ago
was hold gamer auctions. You can bring your own game stuff and turn it over to the store. They auction it off at the auction, what ever it sells for is what
you get in return for... ]]></description>

distributors stocks dry up and no new material is being published to fill this void. Many stores have just sold out of the bulk of 3.5 materials and are now

			<description><![CDATA[ My FLGS only offers the 20% off on preorders, otherwise you pay full price.  I can see their position and respect it because of the overhead they have to pay.

Your LGS may not be offering a dicount on 4e products because he is not sure it will sell as well as the 3.x products, but doesn&#39;t want to carry the 3.x
stock because he thinks it will die out eventually.  Who&#39;s to say, have you ask him his reasons for the change?

Game stores are a dying breed. Good ones and bad ones. It&#39;s a super small niche luxury book/game market- brick &amp; mortar stores that cater to that type
of niche luxuryy product rarely last, especially in tough times with nearly 10% nationwide unemployment. . All of the businesses costs to operate are going up,
and consumers are squeezed.

Then of course you have the issue that MOST LGS are run by poor business people, and the stores are plagued with poor... ]]></description>
