the core 4E DMG is an exemplary work, perhaps the best DMG since Gygax's incomparable 1E tome, so I'm looking forward to this release.

What are your favorite pieces of art from Wotc's 3.x era DnD books?

One work of art really stands out for me:

The cover for Tome and Blood. It's a very dynamic piece of art, and it is very much DnD. You actually get an illustration of a group of adventurers
facing off against a monster (a balrog in this case). I also love that it portrays actual DnD spells being used (mirror image, for one). I think it's
just a very cool pic.

Open Grave is an excellent book! One of the first 4E books (other than the core 3) that I would consider a "must-have", unless you don't like

The book is all about undead. It starts off with a small section of fluff - I found it very inspiring, there's a Death Knight detailed here that gave me a
very strong Glen Cook-style dark fantasy vibe.

Do those that enjoy 4E feel the need to not only defend their perceived merits of the game, but also seem to take critisism about a game as some sort of
